The market for automated trading tools is saturated with bold claims of high returns and “advanced technology.” The Medici EA is one such tool, marketed as a precision trading bot for XAUUSD (Gold) that leverages “Neural Networks” and a “Safe Martingale” system. Marketing materials suggest potential returns of up to 1500% annually.
This Forex EA Review aims to provide an objective, data-driven analysis of the Medici EA. By examining the EA on the Strategy Tester for the period of February to December 2025, we contrast the marketing claims against the actual technical performance to determine its validity.
Marketing Claims vs. Technical Reality
The promotional material for Medici EA makes several high-profile assertions. Below, we break down these claims versus the evidence found in the backtest report.
- The “Neural Network” Claim
- Marketing: The developer claims the EA uses “advanced neural network technology” to adapt to market dynamics.
- Analysis: A Forex EA Review of the EA’s inputs in the Strategy Tester report suggests otherwise. The parameter list reveals standard technical indicators including:
- Stochastic (K_Period, D_Period, Slowing)
- RSI (Value, Count, Thresholds)
- Zig_Zag (Depth, Deviation, Backstep)
- Verdict: The presence of hard-coded settings for standard oscillators (RSI, Stochastic) strongly indicates this is a logic-based algorithmic strategy, not a self-learning neural network. True neural networks typically do not expose standard indicator periods as user inputs; they rely on weights and biases. It is highly probable the “Neural Network” tag is a marketing buzzword rather than a functional component of the code.
“1500% Yearly” Return Potential
- Marketing: Claims the ability to generate up to 1500% yearly.
- Analysis: The backtest (covering nearly 11 months) turned a $10,000 deposit into a net profit of $1,287.57.
- Verdict: This represents a return of approximately 12.8% over the test period, drastically lower than the 1500% claim. While a 12% return with low drawdown is respectable, the marketing expectation is vastly inflated compared to the test result.
Forex EA Analysis: How It Actually Works
Based on the trade logs and input parameters, the Medici EA functions as a Grid/Martingale hybrid heavily reliant on standard oscillators for entry signals.
- Entry Logic – The EA likely uses the RSI and Stochastic indicators to find overbought or oversold conditions combined with ZigZag for trend confirmation.
- Martingale Recovery – My backtest report confirms a Martingale logic. For example, on September 30, 2025, a series of trades occurred where lot sizes increased:
- Trade 26: 0.21 Lots
- Trade 27: 0.34 Lots
- Trade 28: 0.54 Lots This aligns with the Multiplier=1.6 setting visible in the parameters (0.21×1.6≈0.336).
- One Sided Trading Anomaly – A critical observation in this specific test is that 100% of the trades (45 out of 45) were “Short” positions. The EA did not take a single “Buy” trade in 11 months. This is highly unusual and suggests the EA may have been curve-fitted to a specific downtrend or has a “Trade Filter” enabled that ignored long signals during this period.
Recommendations
